If you want to learn more about Jesus or just want to bolster your faith, Central UMC suggests some of the following:
Read the Bible — Download either the YouVersion or BibleGateway app for your smartphone or tablet. Both include a variety of reading plans. Or you can visit www.biblegateway.com and read from more than 50 English translations or from one of about 60 languages.
Pastor Amy’s blog — The Rev. Amy Seifert writes a blog titled “Midweek Motivation” that comes in your email and is regularly posted on Facebook. These brief, reflective posts sometimes reflect on the previous week’s sermon, sometimes provide a preview of the next week’s sermon, and at other times simply reflect something she has observed as she goes through life in the Lawrence community.
In Layman’s Terms podcast — Todd Seifert, our adult Sunday Discipleship class teacher, hosts a weekly blog that focuses on tales of discipleship in Kansas and Nebraska some weeks, and other weeks he focuses on a reflection on Scripture.
BeADisciple.com — These online classes from the Richard and Julia Wilke Center for Discipleship at Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, include myriad topics meant to help you serve Christ and your church more effectively while bolstering your faith. The course catalogue features more than 100 courses, and it’s growing all the time.
Lay Servant Ministries — In The United Methodist Church, we believe all people are called to ministry in some form to serve Christ. One way to get involved is through Lay Servant Ministries, which involves a basic discipleship course and then other training you can take based on your interests. Learn more on the Great Plains Conference website pages dedicated to Lay Servant Ministries.
